PIEDMONT POLICE EXPLORER POST #911

The Piedmont Police Explorer Program is sponsored by the Piedmont Police Department POA to help provide specific training for young men and women ages 14 to 21 who are interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement.  Explorers receive training in law enforcement policy and procedures, tactical and physical agility training and forensics.

Law Enforcement Exploring incorporates several areas of experience including: life skills, career training, team building, character education and leadership experience. The students learn first-hand duties and responsibilities of police officers by working hand in hand with officers and dispatchers during ride-alongs. The explorers are also given an opportunity to fine tune their interpersonal skills and communication with not only law enforcement professionals but the community in which they serve.

Explorers are trained in traffic control, search and rescue techniques and crime prevention. They use these skills in the community by volunteering to participate in National Night Out, the Bike Rodeo, the 4th of July Parade, the Harvest Festival, the Public Safety Open House and the Turkey Trot 5K marathon.

Each year, the Piedmont Police Explorers enter one of the largest explorer competitions in the nation held in Chandler, Arizona. This event hosts over 300 explorers from all over the country to compete in various competitions which include law enforcement tactics, physical stamina, obstacle courses and firearms techniques. Our Explorers train tirelessly to ensure the team coordination and communication skills are honed to be at their best for the competition.

Training for competitions and volunteering in the community is just a small part of the Explorer program. The Piedmont Police Explorer Program is also designed to provide the structure needed for young adults to make ethical choices in order to achieve their full potential as individuals.
